Getting Ready

Upcoming Adventures

Sunshine and I are planning our spring trips, as we have friends and family participating in love affirmation events. This includes a renewal of vows, a sister’s wedding, and a wedding for a family friend, all taking place across this beautiful country. There’s something special about weddings—the joy, the celebration, and the opportunity to witness the love between friends and family.

This year, we are fortunate to have “RSVP’d” to three weddings in three incredible locations. With a month-long journey ahead that spans big cities, small towns, and mountain ranges, I am diving into the art of preparation. Here’s how I am getting ready for this whirlwind of festivities. Hopefully, these tips will help you with your own multi-destination adventure.

Step 1: Mapping out the Itinerary

First things first, let us nail the logistics. With three weddings across three states, I have a puzzle to solve. How am I going to get to each location? Do I need a hotel? Rental car? Flight? Is there a theme? Dress code?

I will be using a simple spreadsheet, which can be made in Numbers (for those Apple users such as myself), Excel, or Google Sheets. These trips will fill every weekend in May, so it is important to keep track.

Step 2: Packing for Events

May can be a little tricky with the weather. Not to mention, the weddings are celebrating different cultures. There will be a beach theme, a simple country theme, and an Indian theme. My smoking-hot wife and I are splitting some of the duties. She will manage our wardrobe for the actual events. I will manage all the logistics mentioned in Step 1. We will need to ensure the weather in each of these locations. Next up will be to research the average temperatures and conditions for the planned locations. Wedding guest rule #1: Look good, but don’t outshine the couple!

Step 3: Wedding Guest Survival Kit

Three weddings mean three chances to dance the night away and eat to much cake. We will be packing a mini survival kit. This kit will include stain remover pen (if wine is spilt, it will be on my shirt), portable phone charger, headache relief, and a small notebook to jot down memories. Additional, I am thinking to bring a few thank you cards to slip to the hosts. I thoughtful guest gets invited to the next celebration, right?

Step 4: Exploring between “I dos”

Since I’ll be on the road every weekend in the month, I am hoping to catch at least one site in each location. As we make arrangements for each location, I am scoping out activities. In Boston, I am looking around “the cape”. Colorado Springs screams Garden of the Gods and a Pikes Peak drive, weather permitting. The North Carolina visit will include some family time, after all, it is my sister getting married. I’m researching local spots on X and the web to see what’s trending—nothing beats real-time recs from locals.

Step 5: Staying Flexible (and Sane)

Weddings are unpredictable—schedules shift, toasts run long, and someone’s bound to lose a boutonniere. I’m building buffer days at each location to account for travel hiccups or spontaneous after-parties. Mental prep is just as crucial: a good playlist, a downloaded audiobook, and a promise to myself to savor the chaos. These trips are about love, connection, and a little adventure—stress has no seat at the table.

Final Thoughts

Preparing for a month of weddings across Boston, North Carolina, and Colorado Springs feels like training for a marathon of joy. It’s a balancing act of planning and letting go, packing smart and dancing hard. Whether you’re a fellow wedding hopper or just love a good travel tale, I hope this inspires you to embrace the journey—tuxedo wrinkles and all. Next stop: saying “cheers” to the happy couples!
