The Northern Virginia area does not get a lot of snow. What I am referring to is snow which will impact daily lives. We get some cold days, ice days, even a hurricane day every once in a while. It has been a couple of years since we have had snow days. But when they come, we are excited, disappointed, and even irrational at times.
Five things to do on a Snow Day
Go to work
Thanks to the pandemic, we are telework-ready. This means, that while the kids have no school and traffic will be light, I have the honor of working remotely. I am not really complaining, it is just a fact of today’s life.
Shovel Snow
Keeping the drive and walkways clear is very important. I also find that shoveling 2″ of snow twice is easier than shoveling 4″ of snow once. Much like many areas, you are also responsible for the sidewalk in front of your house. I have discovered this rule is not followed in my nieghborhood.
Binge watch TV
Is there a series or movie you have recently missed? You can use your snow day to catch up. My wife watched the entire “Tudor” series on Prime this past week. I would provide a link, but neither pays me enough to provide links.
Catch up on FACEBOOK
I enjoy social media to catch up with friends, promote this site, and even research travel destinations. Snow Days give you this opportunity without the guilty feeling of screwing off at work.
Enjoy a walk
Recently my smoking hot wife and I started walking the neighborhood. This was before the new year, so calling it a “New Year’s resolution” is unfair. Regardless of when we started, walking when it is cold outside is a different experience. We had fallen behind because of the time change. (We don’t walk after dark.) and the weather. However, today we thought we would give it a try. We were able to make it 3/4 of a mile before we called it quits.
Wrapping up
It has been a while since I have updated the blog. Life does get in the way. I do hope you find my slice of the internet to be slightly entertaining and hope you will come back.
