Last weekend, I embarked on a journey to South Carolina for my cousin’s wedding at the picturesque WildBerry Farms in Marion, SC. It was a weekend filled with love, laughter, and a few unexpected sunburns.
The wedding had a special twist—my cousin married his girlfriend of over two years. And here’s the kicker: they met on my wife’s birthday! Sunshine was over the moon when she discovered her birthday was the day they first crossed paths. Talk about a birthday gift that keeps on giving!
The entire weekend was a delightful whirlwind of family fun. I had the chance to catch up with my parents, see my brother and sister, and witness the glorious occasion of my cousin tying the knot. He’s the last of us to do so, except for one, so our family was out in full force. We had a jam-packed schedule, starting with the rehearsal dinner. My uncle, the groom’s dad, outdid himself with a fantastic spread catered by Mission BBQ in Myrtle Beach.
As the designated driver, I took on the role with pride. My father can’t see very well at night, and my mother, well, let’s just say her driving skills are more of a “suggestion.” So, it was up to me to get us all to the wedding safely.
As the day of the wedding dawned, the sun decided to join the party, providing the perfect lighting for the photographer. However, I had to be strategic about my position. With my shiny bald head, I was determined not to become the main attraction in the photos, reflecting the sun like a disco ball.
All in all, it was a weekend to remember—filled with love, laughter, and a few humorous moments that I’ll cherish forever. Here’s to many more weddings and family gatherings in the future!
